Fall 2010
Over the summer the tea room evolved slowly to include teapots, books on tea, tea and tea accessories. It has also been a space where we have worked on designing and redesigning some clothes. Look for some "upcycled clothing" come spring. We have made aprons to go along with the tea items and we soon will have some photos of them.
The patio was built and enjoyed all summer long. Mathew Frongillo and Jason Ashur worked hard in late June to make it idea of a tea room outside a reality. We'll post photos soon! Today is the first of our Thursday teas at three o' clock. Every Thursday we will sere a different tea with biscuits.
This weeks tea is Golden Yunnan. A loose leaf organic black tea by Rishi Tea. It is yummy!
Fall 2009
I love tea and the sense of serenity that seems to accompany it. Local Color's tea room is a place to enjoy a cup of tea, relax, have a conversation with a friend, perhaps even read. This year we created the tea room at the end of the busy summer season. For the local community to have a place to go in town once the restaurants have closed at the end of October.
For fun one Thursday evening from 5-7 pm. we had a" jean swap".Bring a pair of your own jeans( or more than one) and swap with someone else.We had wine and cheese...and a lot of fun trying on jeans. That same evening Chris, the makeup artist from Bella salon, another business in town, came and did free demos.Chris answered questions as well. This was a big hit with all who came. Since the jean swap makeup sessions were so successful and fun we did other evenings for sweaters, shoes and jewelry. Now we have a small section that is " bring an item , take an item" all from the swap items people have brought. It is poular.
This coming season we are going to keep the tea room open and continue to have the " bring an item take an item section" Tea will continue to be on the house We will add tea pots, mugs, accessories, tea books as well as Fair Trade and Organic loose leaf tea that people can purchase. Anyone interested can learn how to brew a proper pot of tea. The tea room will continue to have a small selection of books one can read while there. We will also have for sale a few books on tea, Fair Trade. and "Green books. Hopefully there will be a small " outdoor " tea room once the season begins. See you there :) Meg
